I was at an auction on Monday. They come around a few times a year and sell of seized jewelery, watches, some cars (there's an add in the Herald Federal Auctions). My wife and I go, and I always hope I can get a nice watch for cheap (there was a Breitling (it was nice), a Chopard (very nice), and a bunch of Rolexes(I'm not a huge fan)), and see how much things go for.
In front of me in the line to look at the items is a guy with a t-shirt, cargo shorts and sandals. Later in the auction he was the highest bid on a 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, AND the highest bid on a Aston Martin! (combined, his bids were $165K)
Another fellow who didn't seem too confident in his bidding spent almost $200K (probably over with the extra 15% handling fee plus 6% GST) on various items.
So if they are judging based on what you wear, they are losing a lot of sales.
