Why are their design firms for solar/wind.

I fully understand the reason behind the lack of manufacturing, but investing in the other 2 is really how Alberta will protect itself from the market exposure they are currently subject to. Its not going to be by building pipelines or refineries, those just focus the economy even more increasing our exposure.
Haha thanks man I don't think we need to bury O+G investment, but rather start diversifying our focus into sustainable and alternative energy sources. Imagine if Alberta became a research and development hotbed in 10 years for all things energy. Oil and gas would still be supported, but we'd also be attracting top research talent for energy solutions across the board, and Calgary becomes a municipal hub for future-thinking innovation and ideas.

We really could be the energy-focused 'Silicon Valley', and it's staring us right in the face.

Example: I believe the Alberta government should work with Tesla to implement charging stations across Alberta, and be a leader in investing in electric technologies that can benefit the everyday Albertan through increasingly practical means. The government doesn't have to be an evil entity that opposes change and bold ideas. In fact, if we elect the right leaders and get our long-term priorities in line, the government can be the total opposite.
