All the talk last election was about how WR were going to be the ones to finally unseat PC with all the pre-election polls supporting that, only for people to change their minds once they got into the ballot box and PC won big. It's not just about changing minds. Polling is one thing, voting is another. Getting your supporters out to actually cast a ballot requires organization and work. Making calls, driving seniors to polling stations, etc.. The PCs have a lot of experience at this, and a lot of resources. The other parties don't.
How many people who say they will vote NDP will stay home on election night because they had a rough commute, or they couldn't get anyone to watch the kids, or they want to crack a beer and get ready to watch the game?
