Our team thrives off of having mobility from the back end. Ideally you want mobile Dmen who are big and tough also, but if I have to choose between speed and size, I take speed 10 times out of 10.

Greene certainly isn't fast, but I don't think it's fair to say he's slow. And if he's good enough to play 16 minutes per night for the cup winning team last year, I don't know how you can say he's not good enough for the Flames.
Concentrating on one thing, speed, over anything else, to the extent of having no real size, lands you in a position like the Flames are in with Anaheim - no one in your top 4 capable of shutting down a top line of big, physical forwards. And no, as much as Engelland has stepped up in Gio's absence, he hasn't shown me the ability to play against the likes of Getzlaf and Backes effectively.
One of the things dragging down the Flames offense right now is the lingering effect of just one game against a team with punishing defensemen - LA at the end of the year. Calgary's D has shown no ability to play that type of game, which can sometimes be necessary.
