If Bloodborne is your only experience with the series, it will feel like a step back in a lot of ways. Plus while the HUD and UI elements are almost exactly the same as Bloodborne, it is quite a different game moment-to-moment. It's way more about taking your time and being more defensive.

What drives me nuts about these games (I guess Bloodborne in particular since it's fresh in my mind) is that there is just SO much you can miss. I am nearly at the end (I figured I was anyways, but got stuck and went to a guide which confirmed it) and just reading through some of the sections there is a TON of things I missed. Lots of people I didn't talk to and items I didn't pick up.

I also feel like the game is quite a bit shorter than the previous couple. I am at almost exactly 30 hours played and I expect to be done in another 5-8 at the most. Which is still a decent length for a game, but I played Dark Souls for 40+ hours before I got to about the halfway point.
yeah, sorry, that's what i was thinking...hoping that it gives a similar feeling as bloodborne...but you never know i guess...it sounds like the fighting is a lot more tactical due to the blocking mechanic...

i guess now, after trying and really loving Bloodborne, i sort of feel like i ought to give it another chance...

i know what you mean about missing things tho; there's just a ton of stuff out in that word... playing online helps with all the notes etc, but just makes me think that a new game + play through would be worthwhile
