That is not a bad spot at all. People don't like change so I can see why at first you might not like it. Ive seen quite a few people with legitimate concerns where its put essentially in their front yards or adjacent to the side of their home. In your case, its across the street. Consider yourself lucky they didn't decide to put it in your front yard and then not listen to you.
And I do get your concern as Im worried where they put on my street as well.

They have decided to put the community chinese food menu depository...errr...mailbox right across the street from me. I live across the street from fishcreek and here is my view. The red box is where the mailboxes are going.
I have been in contact with Canada Post trying to get it relocated around the corner from me...2 houses to the left of the view above. See below for exact location. This location would not be blocking any view and is much more discrete.
They said that they cannot use that space as their is not enough room yet if you go to the right of my house there are many existing community mailboxes in the exact same place with the same amount of space.
So far I am at my 4th point of contact at Canada Post and they don't even try and help they just say "that is where it is going". My neighbors have put in their concerns to Canada Post and I have contacted The City of Calgary but they can't help because this is federal.
Is this me just having a "get off my lawn" moment or do I have a legit concern that they are placing garbage collector in the middle of my view of a beautiful park? If it is legit what else can I do? I need answers quick as I was able to postpone the excavators this AM.
