Jones was as advertised when the Flames acquired him. When he played like power-forward, he was very effective. Then he would get hurt, and return playing like something else and being ineffective. This is what Colorado fans warned the Flames about, and it seemed pretty damn accurate.
This season I think the biggest difference is that he has stayed healthy. He drove possession pretty well last season for the most part (which was about the only good thing about him), but this season he has actually been really good in all areas of his game. I thought we would see the same David Jones as last season - the inconsistent one - but this season he has just been 'on' the entire way.
Has proven to be a very important player for the Flames as him and Bouma (before Ferland) were the only two physically imposing players who could skate on the team.
