If you look at the overall numbers, Stone had more pts in fewer games. He also had a better +/- and played better 5 on 5 and shorthanded. Stone simply had a better season than Forsberg. It would also be easy to argue that he had a better season than Gaudreau.
I would say that Stone had better linemates to work with though. Ottawa had two go-to-lines with Ryan-Hoffman-Zibanejad. Gaudreau was an anchor on the one-line Flames.

Nope. Gaudreau was much more impressive. The kid came straight from college and put up 64 pts. Stone played 2 years of pro hockey, including 24 NHL games. That's a significant difference. And he is younger.
People point to Ekblad > Klingberg because of age and experience, why shouldn't that hold true for Gaudreau and Stone?
If JH doesn't win, I hope Ekblad takes it. I can't stand those obnoxious Sens fans on HF.
