Perhaps, but I highly doubt any organization will do the Oilers anything close to a favour in a trade, or even a transaction. At least in the near future. If he overvalues their assets, they will continue to do nothing. They are dealing from a position of weakness. They are either going to trade potential for potential, or trade potential for marginal or limited talent.
Even if Chiarelli gives the Oiler's scouting & player development a long overdue organizational enema, they're at least 12 months from competently drafting & developing players. McDavid also has no where to go but down for their fanbase. He's already been declared their personal Jesus & if he meets the hype its expected, if not... Well... Grab some popcorn...
