The same arguments, points, and counterpoints that are in this thread have popped up in a lot of places before appearing here: Cracked, Slate, Salon, etc. Sometimes the points are made in the context of discussing gamergate, sometimes in response to a random video of street harassment in another country, sometimes in response to an Op-Ed in the mainstream media. The contexts in which the arguments arise vary - be it video games, viral video or news piece - but the arguments themselves don't; they seem divorced from the context. It appears to be several groups on both sides of the debate agitating for a platform wherever they can find it and the context - here hockey- just doesn't seem to matter. So I don't think the discussion is hockey related and I come to FOI for pure, unadulterated hockey fun.
If that didn't matter, why have the Off-Topic Forum?

The off-topic forum is for topics that have nothing to do with hockey.
You can get pure, unadulterated hockey fun simply by not visiting the specific threads that aren't that.
But what makes this site great is the combination of casual sports talk, but also serious matters where sports is part of the conversation.
