Yes that is right.
He hadnt played 25 games before the beginning of the next season. If Bennet plays 24 games before the next regular season he would be eligible for next years award still as his 25th would be the first game he still starts the season under 25 games.
A playoff game still counts as overall nhl games played. If say the Flames played all 4 rounds and all were all 7 game series and he played all 28 games he would not quilify for the calder next year.
