This comes on the heels of reaching an agreement on abortion language in a anti-human trafficking bill. The GOP had been using this to hold up the confirmation of Lynch as attorney general. The GOP had snuck in an ammendment to the bill that would bar funds going to organizations that provide abortion services.
I'm also sure that the hold up in approving Lynch (over 165 days...the longest since Reagan was in the white house) has absolutely nothing to do with Lynch being an african-american woman. Honest. The GOP and the far right wing supporters who essentially run the party right now would never stoop to that level. Nope.
Then again....you also had some nice racist and mysoginistic tinged comments from NRA president Wayne LaPierre the other day calling Obama a "demographically-symbolic president" and not wanting another one in Hilary Clinton. Such an outstanding organization the NRA.
