I would think all involved have a vested interest in supporting players, but do agree that the Union should be driving this. These guys are independent contractors and the union should be the glue supporting these guys.
I remember Warrener saying the minute the season started and he didn't have a contract, his NHLPA logins were locked out and access to resources were significantly reduced. That is brutal, but based on my experience with unions (as a member and later on management side) not a surprise at all. Once the dues stop flowing... see you later.
