Now that we know what the injury is, I can freely say that I'm really glad Burrows is out. He tried targeting Gaudreau at the end of last game and then started throwing punches with Russell before he was even ready. It's just one of the many, many despicable plays he's been the instigator of in his career. I just don't think there's a place in the game for a player like him.
Speaking purely from a competitive standpoint, with a broken rib, it would be miraculous for him to play in this series again, but if he did, all it would take is a good clean body check along the boards to probably knock him out of the game again. Even if he played through the pain, he would only be marginally effective and would probably shy away from contact. All in all, this is good news for us and I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for a player like Burrows.
He'll live, he'll be fine, but at least we won't have to deal with his crap the rest of the series. Now Bieksa is another story...
