Draisaitl was projected to be a great 2nd line centre but is an elite 3rd line centre.

Based on depth chart alone, it completely changes the dynamic of the Oilers. In Taylor Hall, the Oilers already have one of the best LWers in the game points-wise over the past few years. Maybe McDavid will help cover his weaknesses and make him play smarter....you have 2 potential 90+ point players there alone.

RNH is no slouch at scoring either and Yakupov/Draisaitl are still young. Overnight the Oilers went from having a middling Centre depth where I would take Monahan/Bennett over RNH/Draisaitl to having one of the best centre depth chart in the league potentially over the next few years. These guys are still 22, 19, 18 years old.....give them 5 years and they'll be 27,24,23 in their primes. As a Flames fan, it's goddamn scary...

I've never had anything bad to say about RNH because he's a terrific centreman.

It's ####ing bull#### and hockey gods don't exist because we have to put up with this #### again. It feels like the ####ing 80s all over again.

What the #### did the Oilers do to deserve this? They won the ####ing lottery. That team has the biggest horseshoe stuck up their ass.
Unlike the 80s you now need good defensemen to win in the NHL. The oilers will continue to ice an AHL level defense and they won't really get that much better. Even more than that, the forwards have to commit to defense too, and so far none of the other first overalls have shown any competence toward that. I guess Hopkins hasn't been terrible, but he hasn't been great at it either, and he's never even been tested on it in any meaningful NHL games.
