For example... Hartley gets fined for putting certain guys on the ice at the end of the last game. So this game he has to watch as Johnny gets brutally slashed in the hands and hit from behind and also watch Bennett get hit right in the head at the end of the game. But because the of the league's problem with having tough guys out at the end of the game... Hartley can't send out his goons to return the favour. He has to just have faith that the league/refs will handle it... I have zero faith in them handling it however. I bet Hartley was sooo tempted to just send out engelland, bollig, ferland, Stajan, and colborne for the last powerplay at the end of the game but let his restraint get the better of him.

Meh, Hartley played his goon card in game 2. Got his desired results. He found the next gear the players needed and it showed up in spades tonight.
The retaliation/goon card the Canucks played tonight was nothing but self inflicting. Flames won that battle. Hartley reeled his players in and told them to do nothing when they tried.
In that aspect, Hartley has out coached DesJardins.
