Actually there is significant evidence that says global warming can/has/will trigger an ice age.
The theory behind "The Day After Tomorrow" was essentially correct... just way overblown.
If the North Atlantic Current is slowed/stalled by fresh water melting off of the ice caps, the northern hemisphere would likely see an ice age.
