There's a pretty big difference between basically saying between games that a player is going to be slashed and the type of stuff said in a scrum or at a faceoff. Especially when it's a coach saying it at a press conference.

We don't even know what Subban said or did in the faceoffs.

"Making an example" of someone is never good lawmaking. And I suspect Subban can point to any number of slashes that didn't get the same penalty if they tried.
