I think it just has to do with the fact that the Canucks have been around longer and have a monopoly over the whole province of BC. And as much as we make fun of the Oilers trying to live through their glory years, the fact remains that the Gretzky era in Edmonton helped plant their fan base over a wider area. Saskatchewan in particular, with no team of their own, are more likely to jump on and off bandwagons.
