I would say it's also because our rookies are mostly forwards, and they are put on lines with veteran forwards and more importantly, vet defensemen. NTTAWWT - we're putting our rookies into positions to succeed. Once it's time to roll in rookie defensemen, they'll have veteran forwards in front of them to ease the pressure. Sam Bennett wasn't thrown to the dogs, he was put in a position to succeed within his limitations and skillsets. Something the E=NGs refuse to do even next year, where they plan to "stay the course".
