Devaux got his penalty today. 10,5 months suspension from hockey - in Sweden. The swedish hockey federation can refuse to sign transaction papers within Europe, but he will still be able to play in the AHL, NHL... (not that he is good enough).
So, interesting question. Should these kind of suspensions be world wide?
Me thinks so. If you deliberately try to injure another player, you really dont deserve to play anywhere.
(now, ofcourse, Devauxs intention wasnt to hurt. Here´s his explanlation:
"The game before I got conscious from a hit by Helmersson, but hid it from the doctors."
"Rögle didnt want to report Helmerson because ”Devaux would have to protect himself because the league would not”"
"Before the incident I got mocked by the players, including Helmerson who told him to "Be ready to be carried of (the ice) again”, ”VIK would finish the job” and ”watch his neck”.
Because of this, he decided he had to stand up for himself.... The purpose was not to injure.....
