Part of it is psychological, 24fps has meant "movie" or "suspend disbelief here" since the first time going to a theatre for almost all of us.
I think a bigger part is just that 24fps hides so much it's easier to see it as a fantasy world rather than a window looking into someone's living room, and it's easier to see things are just the minimum possible prop or effect to do the job.
I think the higher frame rates will become standard but processing and cgi and practical effects will all probably go through a process of changes until they get to something that accomplishes the goal of transporting the viewer to another world while being the higher quality.
