Jeeps tend to have some of the worst reliability ratings out of any brand (usually down there with Land Rover). And not just small things...you hear more than your fair share of issues with big-ticket items (brother in law just bought a new Cherokee...new 9-speed automatic had to be entirely replaced after 1 month). My in-laws have a Jeep Liberty, and it's probably the biggest piece of junk Ive driven in a long time. It has Fischer Price quality plastic on the inside, and drives terribly. One of these few vehicles that feels downright dangerous to me. I'm sure the Compass drives better than a Liberty, since its more of a CUV, but the Compass doesn't seem to be that much newer of a platform.

I can see the appeal of the Wragler, and perhaps the Grand Cherokee, but otherwise the lineup is something I'd personally stay away from, especially something old like a Compass. There are just better options out there. Try a Mazda CX-5. Or at least the new Cherokee if you want to remain with Jeep.
