I get that the goal of the stat is to eliminate all outside factors to get to the baseline number. So regardless of luck or time of day or schedule or pregame meals at the end of the day all teams outside factors even out and anything that deviates is luck.
In the shoot out vs overtime argument of luck. What role does the coach play in using experience to get a feel for what to do. Schlemko ot winner for example, I'm not saying it wasn't luck but what role does experience play thoes 10 shootouts or 4 on 4s.
There has to be some reason for the coach to be behind the bench and deciding on the 4 on 4 lines other then it then this is what the corsi says about these 4 player. At what point does a players last shift getting slashed and coach seeing his motivation for his next shift turn an ot win from luck to skilled perception?
