Bouma has been a great heart and soul guy who's now scoring. An extra million for his continued style of play even without the offense is worth it. If Wolf/Hathaway/Ferland could fill in, we would have seen some evidence of that this year. None of them are quite at that level or bring the same kind of heart-on-sleeve passion.
Goalies you can't quite count on because you never know what will end up happening. We may just keep Hiller or Ramo while they continue double teaming with Ortio or perhaps nobody pans out so we'll have to dip into FA for another capable backup/starter.
The Hawks can barely afford to pay for Keith/Seabrook/Toews/Kane/Hjalmarrson/Sharp/Hossa. I'm sure the Flames will have no trouble with Gio/Brodie/Monahan/Gaudreau/Bennett but my point stands that you don't sign ROR to a 7x7 deal because of how this could hurt this team down the road when you're better off remaining patient for a couple years and assessing what you need.

I agree you don't give big money term contract for RoR at this point. Flames have to wait until they are a true contender for the Stanley cup.
Yes hawks are in trouble cap wise, but do you really think they would trade their Stanley cup to get out of cap jail? Basically what I am saying when the flames feel they are really ready to get that Stanley cup they should really consider going all in, even if it means having to figure out cap jail a couple years later.
Even though Iggy was my favourite flame, I never want the flames to be in that position again. where the player is bigger than the symbol on the front of the jersey . I rather have a couple of Stanley cups than have Monahan or Johnny hockey play out their careers in flames jerseys.
