When I was a wee-bucko I was walking to the Colander restaurant to pick up dinner while my mom was at work and 3 white limos pulled up. Out stepped the entire '96 Colorado Avalanche fresh off their Stanley Cup victory. They were in town for Adam Deadmarsh's wedding. I had my Avalanche hat on (I'm a big Patrick Roy fan) and the entire team signed my hat. Patrick Roy even handed my hat back to me then he and Joe Sakic ruffledy hair.

A few years later I was fishing with my dad, and one of his buddies was supposed to meet us at the lake. Up pulls this beat up old single bench pick up truck, and my dads friend steps out, followed by two other guys. I didn't recognise either of them until they got closer. It was Scott and Rob Neidermayer. Rob is an unreal fisherman, Scott isn't much worse than I am. My dads friend is terrible.

I played Rep hockey for several years, and several times if we didn't have enough players to make a tournament or the like, we would call up a player from the lower level. The player we always, and I mean always, called up was Craig Cunningham. More often than not I would play centre for Craig. If any of you guys recognise that name, he nearly singlehandedly destroyed us when we last played Arizona.

My favourite though, is the late, great, Seth Martin. He is some what of a relative through marriage, but not really. He is my cousins great-uncle, but lived in the area so came to pretty well all of the same family functions. He was incredibly nice and down to earth, but told any aspiring athlete that if he couldn't make it as a pro, no one else was going to either.
