Meh. He was also ready to plunge us back into it with the Richards offer.

To get us out of cap jail he dealt Regehr and gave up a 2nd in the deal. Surely getting rid of Sarich who made slightly less would've actually been the better deal. Some rumours there was more to the decision to deal Regehr but frankly that might've been a better time to move Iginla than when Feaster ultimately ended up doing so. Of course ownership may not have been on board with dealing Iginla until that last possible timeframe.

Feaster's UFA moves turned out really good (Hudler, Wideman.)
His cap contributions are overrated, dealing Regehr and a 2nd when Kotalik left back to europe next fall anyway was terrible value.
He let his scouts draft, I guess you can give him a bit of credit there.
But he wasn't intellectually honest enough early enough in his tenure to see that the Flames needed to be rebuilt to be a contender.
I don't think he got amazing value for Iginla and Bouwmeester.
Feaster's best trade was probably for Russell.

Ultimately Tod Button and his staff may deserve the most credit of anyone for finding gems like Gaudreau, Brodie, Bouma, Giordano (undrafted UFA), Backlund, Monahan, Ferland, Granlund, Jooris, Poirier, Ortio, etc.

Feaster deserves some credit. But he did a lot of meh while he was here and misjudged his team a fair amount. I think our future is bright mostly because of our scouting.
