Bryan Adams came into the bookstore I was working at and stood waiting impatiently at the desk while his British manager and blonde Scandinavian girlfriend looked at books. The guy is really small, and clearly illiterate - who goes into a bookstore and doesn't even pick up a book? When he was ready to go, he whistled and his girlfriend and manager hurried up to the desk to pay for their books.

A good friend lived with (Leslie) Feist before she broke big, so hung out with her a lot. Talent and ambition were evident even then.

Shared a small elevator with Peter Lougheed and my parents a few years before Lougheed died. Lougheed realized my parents recognized him and smiled at my mom with those blue eyes. Then he graciously held open the elevator for her. My mom almost melted.

I used to work banquets at the Glencoe Club, and served lots of local media and politicians. One time Ed Whalen balked at the prime rib I put in front of him, saying it was too rare. Another person at the table kidded him about it, and Whalen said that was easy for him to say, his was fine. So I swapped plates. They thought it was funny.
