Agreed. The population isn't the problem, but location. Airdrie is too close to Calgary and I doubt the WHL wants to put two teams right on top of each other like that. The risk of cannibalizing the market is too great.
That said, if a rink of sufficient quality were to be built, the city could support the AJHL without issue.

Yes, but it will be a logistical nightmare once Calgary builds a Berlin-style wall between us and Airdrie.
