Well, they could learn how to play live and make money the old fashioned way. Back before streaming, there were too many studio bands that couldn't perform well live. Now putting a on a good concert is the only way many of them make a lot of money.
- It's easier now more than ever for musicians without money to get their music out there.
- It puts more emphasis on the live show.
- Bands can't release a 12 song album every year with 1 good song 11 boilerplate filler tracks, otherwise people will just download the one song (a lot of people will still buy albums if the whole thing is good).
Perhaps you are right that it has made some musicians into glorified jungle writer, but I see way more positives out of it.
