My hunch is, they'll play Bennett for the last game against Winnipeg. That'll give him 1 game during the regular season, and a potential 8 games to play in the Playoffs without burning the ELC.
If we make it 8 games deep into the Playoffs, the Flames business may see it being worthwhile burning the 1 year ELC if Bennett has played well. The Flames would have made a decent amount of revenue over the course of those playoff games, and will just keep him on the team for the rush. And if he hasn't been a contributor, then they can take him off the team.
