The risk is that he's never played an NHL game in his life and he'd be thrown in to the biggest 3 games of the Flames' season. Might he play well?? Sure! But history shows it's not an easy jump from juniors to the NHL and he'll LIKELY be in over his head. Even Gaudreau took time to adjust (and he's even older than Bennett and played college)...he had a slow start to the season and was even sitting in the pressbox. In the vast majority of cases, it takes at least a few games before a prospect adjusts to the speed of the NHL.
Not to mention, in the season seat holder thread, Conroy talks about how Bennett doesn't even know the Flames' system yet. His instincts would have been incorrect on a few plays. Most games this late in the season are tight 1 goal games...one mistake could cost us the season at this point.
