I think he deserves consideration, but he won't get it.

It isn't just the offensive production. That alone would put him on the perimeter of any serious Hart consideration. Yes, he is 7th in the league in points, but that doesn't really qualify in itself for any consideration really.

It is what he has brought to the team. His leadership, the way he has mentored Gaudreau and Monahan. How Hartley has loved using him with the youth - the same youth that are pushing this team most nights. The way he has not only bought-into what Hartley has been preaching, but how he has helped guide the youth into playing that way.

Will he get consideration? No. If anything, Giordano would garner more consideration at this point, and you can make a very good argument as to why. I don't think Hudler will get any real recognition outside of the organization. Just the way things are. Not when you have Price keeping Montreal up there (really don't think they are that strong of a team), not with Ovechkin getting another 50 goals, not with Stamkos not only scoring, but leading by example at times and fighting (if you can call it fighting), not with a few other guys league-wide who have been simply outstanding to their respective teams.

It is 'homerism' to think that Hudler will get consideration. It is NOT homerism to think he deserves some. He absolutely has. Anyone that thinks Hudler hasn't been absolutely tremendous to the organization on and off the scoresheet hasn't been paying any attention. I was not really on the 'trade Hudler' bandwagon last year - though I thought at the time it might have been a prudent decision. I am thinking Hudler is pretty much irreplaceable at this time, and him and Giordano have both been the catalysts as why the Flames play the way they do, and where they are in the standings. They have both influenced the culture on this team in ways you simply can't measure - and that is why neither one of them gets serious attention.

Deserve it? Yes. Will they actually get any consideration? Not by any media outside of Calgary, unfortunately. Just the way things go.
