Yes, but for only one year, which doesn't provide much flexibility. If you know you have to sign him next year, you can't go out and sign a UFA to anything more than a one-year deal. And you aren't going to get anyone significant on a one year deal.
Yes, Treliving has emphasized slow many times. But no GM means foregoing playoffs when they are talking about going slow.
That would be the very definition of missing the forest for the trees.
