Would they be wrong though? That's the problem, the situation was never black and white, and either side will spin whatever happens the way they want, with out necessarily being wrong or right.
If he doesn't make it, the Sven fan boys could still say the Flames ruined him and he never recovered, if we'd treated him right he'd be an NHL player.
And if he does make it, the Sven detractors we'll call them could still say, oh well, took him to get traded to figure out his attitude was wrong, he corrected it and now he made it.
For example, my honest belief given he's now been called up and is seeing AHL success he didn't see with our system is that it proves his attitude was bunk. He hasn't spent enough time yet with Vancouver org. to have had them go in and fix whatever was wrong with his game, so IMO it can't be development systems. What it is to me is proof that Sven went to pout city a couple of years back when the Flames sent him to prospects camp after his 5 game call up, and then eventually sent to the AHL because in his mind he'd proven he'd made it and didn't want to have to compete for his spot anymore. From that point on, the only thing that was going to work for Sven was if he was simply given a spot, he was refusing to work for it, and then when it became clear he was never simply going to be given a spot he'd have to earn it, he wasn't going to try until he got what he wanted which was out.
Now that he's out, he's all happy again and willing to play properly. That's what I think has happened. And you can hear it everytime he opens his mouth and talks about why it didn't work in Calgary, it's never about what he didn't do, it's all about what happened around him and the environment he was in.
Of course the counter to my point above would be to say that it's working out so quickly in Vancouver because they are using him right. I don't believe that, but it's also not possible for me to prove that I'm right or wrong on the matter.
Which is why you won't see any "admissions" of guilt lets say, from either side in this argument which ever way it works out for Sven because there will actually be no proof one way or the other.
