The city has legitimate concerns about Uber. But don't they realize that if they really want to save the current licensing system, they need to dramatically reform it to ensure reasonable access to cabs in every part of the city at 1:00 AM on a Saturday night?
If they don't figure this out, there won't be a single person in this city besides current taxi owners who will shed a tear when the old system crumbles under the Uber onslaught. I just don't get how so many councilors and the mayor can be so tone deaf on an issue. If there are considerations that the public isn't aware about, then let's hear them. I'm all ears. The mayor can even speak in full sentences if that's necessary.
