Moreover, since when were the Maple Leafs ever rebuilding?
The point here is that the Flames have improved (the Oilers have not at any point in their rebuild), and based on the projected anticipated improvement of their young players, should also continue to improve (The Maple Leafs have for a long time now been a veteran team without this internal mechanism for natural progression).
I don't see the comparisons as remotely close.
