I really liked the episode but honestly felt it was one of the most inconsistent ones so far. First off, the toughness of the zombies varies widely: Darryl and Aaron manage to weave their way through at least 50 of them without too much trouble but one of walker is almost too much for ultimate badass Rick to handle? (And although the head explosion zombie kill was awesome, you have to ask how it's even possible to build up any pressure in a body without flowing blood)
Also the wolves: what benefit would it have for a group of bad guys that obviously preys on others to advertise their presence and potentially warn their victims away? Spray painting "wolves not far" across their own trap seems kind of stupid. And while we're on the subject of the trap, how did super tracker 2000 Darryl not notice the tin can noisemakers hung on string all around the semi trailers? Not to mention that the latches on the latches on the trailers looked like they had been worked over pretty good - should have been a strong indication that they weren't the first people to discover that place.
I did think the pacing of the episode was excellent, although I question if it really needed to be 90 minutes. I was stoked to see Morgan return, and I do question how he will react to Rick's brutality now that he seems to have adopted the "all life is precious" approach.
I do wonder what kind of angle they will take with the coming conflict between Alexandria and the Wolves. They'll have to come up with something new so it doesn't just come off as a re-hash of the war with the Governor, and given the darker & gorier direction the show seems to be taking lately, I'm pretty sure it will have some pretty horrific moments. It really does speak to the engaging quality of the show when I can pick out so many obvious flaws and yet still can't wait to watch the next episode. October can't come soon enough.
