The point isn't the use of the word "cancer" so much as a bunch of Flames fans on a Flames message board participating in revisionist history for the purposes of denigrating the character of an ex-prospect. Highlighting (or inventing) the player's negative aspects, minimizing (or ignoring) their positive attributes, and expressing serious pessimism about their chances of amounting to anything when compared to previous hopes and dreams.
In other words, the same exact thing that every other fanbase has always done and will always do when their player gets traded in any sport...
