We have all seen what money can do to a player. I love Bouma, he is crazy doing what he does. My biggest fear is a long term contract with term makes him think he is a goal scorer now. If that happens, IF, Bouma will not be worthy of a roster spot.
Posters here have claimed him to be a top six forward! He is not, never will be and god help us if he ever thinks this. Moment he thinks he is a skilled player we are screwed. He will start playing soft.
Yet I think management will get the right contract done. I hope its a very good raise for him. 300 percent increase, earned it. Followed by "We love what you do, show us more, we got money we want to spend on you!".

Yep, valid points. I like the 3 year term idea, but I don't think that gets it done from Bouma's camp. If I'm Bouma, I want either 2, or 4 or more.
Couple examples, are two old Flames, in Brandon Prust & Eric Nystrom.
They each took contracts around the $2.5m avg. Bouma, has "better" years ahead of him, with a larger salary cap, allowing increased average contracts.
