Isn't that what kind of caused the rift between DLR and VH? Roth wanted to play more up beat, life-style heavy rock, and VH wanted to bring in more synthesizers and focus more on meaningful lyrics and song writing... I think that was what I read somewhere before.
Honestly, a combination between the 2 probably would have been nice. VH wrote some good meaningful songs with Hagar, but personally, I liked Dave's vocals and showmanship more and didn't like the poppier synthesizers that were brought in at the tail end of the DLR era and into the Hagar era.
But yeah, they are practically 2 different bands.
