All we heard over the last month was how easy the Flames schedule was down the stretch and how the Kings, Jets, Wild had difficult schedules and none of that has come to fruition. In fact the Flames have had the most difficult schedule because they have been playing teams that have all been on winning streaks and strong play of late while the Predators slumped, teams like the Habs start their backup that is a .500 goaltender, and then there's the fact that all the teams in the race have all ramped up their play as over the last 10 games.
The Flames are now on the outside of the playoffs looking in which means they are no longer in control of their own fate and considering how miserable the OOT scoreboard has been over the last month it's not very reassuring especially given the Flames are about to embark on a road trip where they face the hottest team in the league in the Wild and a team that is simply far better than them in the Blues. A loss tonight drops them below 50% odds for making the playoffs. It is what it is.
