Yeah you can get a 1440p/1600p 27" monitor that isn't attuned for gaming, but they aren't cheap (pretty much all high rez panels are still pricey).

These suckers are on sale for $450 at memex. Note that gaming at 1440p (3,686,400 pixels) is a lot more taxing on your card (even for Cities) than at 1080p (2,073,600 pixels) since you are effectively requiring almost double the visual output from your card:
