IMO there really isn't much of a drop off in talent dropping down say 5 to 7 picks and that extra 2nd could be another bullet in the chamber for a draft that Treliving thinks will be deep into the 60th OA pick.
edit: This also assumes no one surprising falls to the Flames.

That edited part is the big if though. I still recall the 2004 draft when we traded down from 19th to 24th. The rumour at the time was that we were expecting Zajac to fall further, only to have New Jersey trade up to 20th and snag him. We ended drafting his teammate, Kris Chucko instead. I have no verifiable source, but I do recall hearing about it after the draft from media "insider" reports.
I do agree though, that the further you go in the 1st round, talent gradient starts to plane out a little bit.
