You keep making these calculations from the assumption that every year every team is going to sign every player to bigger and bigger deals, which is not at all how teams operate.
Previous cheap players are replaced with new cheap players, and expensive players are signed to replace previous expensive players.
I'm not educated enough on the Wild to speculate how it's going to work for the Wild but their really expensive contracts were all already signed for last season, and they were a playff team that made the 2nd round and lost to an excellent Blackhawks team.
They're a playoff team this season.
They will very probably manage next season too.
