Looking at the
roster from the 2012/13 lockout-shortened season (a mere two years ago) -- I was surprised to see that of the 36 players that saw action, only 7 are on the current Flames roster:
Hudler
Stajan
Wideman
Backlund
Giordano
Brodie
Byron
If you add Bouma (who missed the entire year due to injury), that makes 8.
The 29 that are no longer here include 4 of the top 5 scorers, the team captain/face of the franchise, and of course a HOF-worthy goaltender.
Has any other team in the league gone through that much turnover in that short a time frame? Any idea how this compares to other "successfully rebuilt" teams in recent memory (i.e. Chicago, St. Louis, maybe Nashville)?
