$5m in salary buys you a guy like Jiri Hudler.
But getting a coach like Mike Babcock buys you all the Jiri Hudlers you want.
I subscribe to the notion that some coaches suck, some coaches are great, but the large majority are in the mushy middle. They get too much credit for wins, and too much blame for losses, when really they're not really the ones driving the bus.
Mike Babcock, however, is one of the great ones.
If I were the Leafs, my main personnel priority right now would be making sure I had enough guys available to shovel all the cash out of the Brinks truck that I'm driving to Mike Babcock's house on July 1st.

The history of bringing in superstar coaches to coach crap teams to the championship is what? I'd spend my money on the ice and give the talent strong, stable and supportive off ice help. The Leafs and Oilers have neither the on or off ice resources
