Edmonton would be an intriguing choice. Taking over the team that's been the laughing stock of the league for the past decade. The building blocks are there, and with a McDavid / Eichel skating down the middle, finding an established goalie, and cementing the defense, Babcock could be a hero in Edmonton compared to the levels of Gretzky.

Coming from a team that is the gold-standard of player development to Edmonton would give Babcock a stroke. Red Wings love to over-develop (for lack of a better term) their guys in the minors for a while, the whole Draisaitl debacle would've had him pulling his hair out. As long as Lowtavish is there, Scotty Bowman in his prime couldn't fix that team.
