Absolutely, not like the Flames aren't better off with Russell, of course they are. But at the end of the day, this is sport. It's about team performance, and also individual moments of greatness and failure. Had Russell taken the puck from end to end on a rush, undressed the whole team and scored the game winning goal, mo one would have issue with people coming in here and sticking the hero crown on his head for a great individual effort that one the game. Or if he'd dove head first to block a shot in OT and saved the game, people would be in here again with the hero talk for an individual effort.
Russell made a terrible individual play yesterday, that did in fact cost us the game. Just like the individual examples above, if you substitute out Russell's mistake in this case, we have the two points not just one. Think it's pretty fair to talk about those negative moments too, especially if you have a balanced perspective, and especially if you are willing to sign praises of players when deserved also, and CP has not had a shortage of love for Russell all season long.
