It's because the way we play, we are content to zone the opposition to the perimeter in the D-zone and get in as many shooting lanes possible. Flames are content to have Ramo/Hiller have the long, easy shot and not give up any prime scoring chances. On offense, we try to set up those golden opportunities before finishing.
When the Flames generally get out corsi-ed playing that strat and lose, it means that those opportunities that opponents got were really dangerous. It's also indicative of the Flames either running into a hot goalie or gave him too many easy shots.
Which is what ended up happening a lot on that 8 game skid.
Tonight I noticed a lot of Flames shooters trying to go glove side on Bobrovsky too. They gotta pick blocker against the hot goalies. Engelland needs to learn how to not ice the puck.

Have Ramo or Hiller had a shutout at all this year yet? I know Ortio has, but that may be the only one the team has gotten all season?

Yes, Ramo had two back to back shutouts on the road, vs PHX and SJ I believe. Then he had a stinker of a game and lost the starting position.
